GUCCI F/W 2013/14 - A harder, darker, more eroticized approach to fashion that, under the creative direction of a glowingly gorgeousFrida Giannini, involves the likes of
high-necked python tees under curvaceous jackets; super-covered-up
dresses that could have gone demure but decided bad was better; and a
ton, and I mean a ton of leather: sometimes given a craquelure surface
treatment, other times as gleaming ponyskin and richly colored
astrakhan, all used for soft-shouldered, nip-waisted suits and coats
whose shape was controlled by an intricacy of seams that ran around and
over the body. To go with all this, accessories were kept strictly
understated long snakeskin boots that hugged the legs, structured bags
that carried no other adornment than their jet-black bamboo handles and
archival luggage–lock fastenings.
"As it turns out, Giannini was
thinking about another sexual provocateur for her collection Allen
Jones, the 1960s British artist who took hard-core fetishism from behind
closed doors to the gallery floor. If Jones’s work had a disturbing
distance, encouraging a voyeuristic gaze, then Gucci was rather warmer,
in no small part, it has to be said, because of the flashes of
exuberance that Giannini brought to bear on the proceedings."
Patrizia Pepe is delighted to present first images from the new
Fall/Winter 2012 Advertising Campaign, shot in London by photographers, Mert & Marcus. The face of the new season, the Polish model Anja Rubik,
gives her interpretation on the theme “Breakfast on the Moon”, which is
the inspiration behind the Patrizia Pepe ready-to-wear and accessories
collection this Winter. Defining a sensual and hyper-feminine wardrobe
for the season, artfully balancing elegance, innovation and experimental
design.
The location is an inner-city garage, that in addition to portraying
the urban vibe of the Patrizia Pepe look, also shows a visual journey,
from the intimate and cosy interiors in the previous ad campaigns, to a
more obscure outdoor setting, to symbolise a place poised between the
present and the future. In the background of the Parking Garage, the clean,
minimalist lines of a luxury car represent a concrete element in the
subtle setting in which the Patrizia Pepe woman poses – real and
alluring – as flawless as the clothes she is wearing, designed to flow
with every movement and rhythm of modern living.
With the new images, Patrizia Pepe reasserts a path blessed with many
exclusive projects and partnerships, while continuing to bring in
international fashion and image talents, able to capture and communicate
to others the creative philosophy of the brand with passion, energy and
a unique style. The new Advertising Campaign will be on-air in the main Italian and international media from mid-August.
The scene was a flashback to the Versace heyday; a glamourous evening show back in the Via Gesu Versace palazzo where Gianni showed in the high eighties, complete with eighties popstars Duran Duran in the front row, with everyone agog and dressed to the mines, and a fresh Prince track pounding.

Versace Ad-Campaign Fall 2011/12
... That's true of Donatella Versace's glossy leather suits, with their pleated skirts (a clever coded meld between Versace's "gladiator" heritage, a kilt and schoolgirl) and, especially, of the way she managed evening. Yes, she did her duty to the house by offering up a couple of the expected strapless ostrich-trimmed gowns that must have a place of honor in a Versace finale. ... It sparkled, but in a coolly confident woman-friendly way: testament to how well Donatella Versace is steering her collection into the future.
