Clean Glamour by Viktor & Rolf Spring/Summer 2013

And out she steps from the mirror and into the real world: this season's Viktor & Rolf girl, her fantasy wardrobe comprised of flowing monochrome pleats and belts of shards of mosaic glass, her hair Rapunzelesque. "We were thinking about clean glamour and thought of mirrors," explained the duo Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren backstage after the show and down and around that mirrored staircase upon which the models had made their entrance.

"There was a black, very graphic section and then there were soft flesh tones," they continued, noting the importance of this dreamy-versus-sharp juxtaposition, something which they are very good at consistently doing. For them, the show is what it's always about. "We always start with the concept. This was very glamorous, conceptual," they said.

So down a chessboard-style catwalk came the models in metallic draped trousers that fell into place at the front; in billowy shirts with bows nestling into the shoulder or around the waist; in tulle-festooned maxi skirts and blouses; and mosaic mirror embroideries of roses and bows that descended down all white numbers. It was all at once soft and dreamy, and sharp and graphic - taking the very idea of a mirror and its literal and potential qualities and wrapping them up in a typical Viktor & Rolf collection that delivered what it needed to to its fans.

Just awaiting the upcoming Fashion Weeks and especially the Parisian Haute Couture presentations from January 23th to 26th, 2012, I just wanted to present a really outstanding collection - Viktor & Rolf!

From now on, and this is new on my blog 'ANDREA JANKE Finest Accessories', you'll get daily collection updates! Stay tuned for a stylish New Year 2012! LoL, Andrea

Viktor & Rolf Spring/Summer 2012 Collection

It was blazing hot at Viktor & Rolf. Good thing they got the bed face print idea out of the way last season, instead, the models wore a thick set of synthetic pink leathers pink lashes, - they were  baby dolls, not knights. Dolls' clothes informed the girlish silhouettes, the stiff nature of the fabrics, the oversize lace-prints, and the blown-up proportions of the stitching that held the clothes together. Enjoy the Viktor & Rolf Fashion Show at the end of this post!

The naive quality of the lacing, as if it had been done by seamstresses giants, worked on some of the pieces, including a bra top and a matching skirt as well as an A-line shift. Ultimately, though, it overpowered the show's prettier, simpler moments, such as the pair of metallic lavender lace dresses, one just below the knee and the other long to the floor. The designers seemed to let their concept get in the way of what grown-up women might actually want to wear.

The models made their entrances and exits though the parted yards-long "skirts" of the singers of the pop duo Brigitte, who performed on a platform high above the runway. Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren get points for that clever setup this season, bit not to much else.
