'The New 'GUCCI Interlocking' for Pre-Fall 2015'

For Frida Giannini’s penultimate collection for Gucci, the designer looked to a boyish glamour synonymous with a certain swath of the seventies: lean, tailored suiting in tweed, herringbone, and geometric jacquard, sharp and smart wool mélange blazers, and trousers coming cuffed and low-waisted or long and oversize, and all paired with tricolor python or leather pointed toe brogues, both heeled and flat.

Take In the Sun

Playful prints and bold patterns welcome summer’s arrival ... And, finally: Shoes. Let the other houses do their takes on the clunkier styles of the seventies, namely chunky, wooden-sole clogs and flat, tread-sole sandals. Gucci will always take the path most glamorous, which in this case is laid with platform, ankle-strap sandals, either made of printed scarves that wrap around the leg or vivid leather with a horse-bit embellishment.

More To Love ...

'Undeniably Luxe by GUCCI Spring/Summer 2014'

Of course, this being Gucci, the collection was also undeniably luxe. Laser-cut suede. Another oversize tee came in tooled leather. As a counterpoint to the sports references, Frida Giannini looked at the Art Nouveau illustrations of Erté, and the large-scale scrolling flowers, in silk jacquards or Lurex, decorating most of the pieces nearly glowed.
