VALENTINO Spring 2014 Ad-Campaign

Spring 2014 is the season of Malaika Firth. The model of the moment, Malaika Firth stars in another major advertising campaign, this one for the House of VALENTINO.
Malaika opened and closed the VALENTINO Spring 2014 fashion show in Paris, and now is featured in this stunning campaign photographed by Craig McDean with hair by Orlando Pita and makeup by Lucia Pieroni. This follows up already her images for Burberry Prorsum and Prada. The British model poses in a red lacy look, and drips in gold jewelry including a headband, glittering bracelets and chain necklaces.

Malaika is the 19 year old British model who has been hailed as “the next Naomi Campbell”. She was born in Kenya, and moved to London when she was just 7 years old. Her parents are from a mix of cultures – British, Ungandan, Swiss, Seychelles and Kenyan.  Malaika is proud of her diverse heritage,
I have this mix in me and I’m so proud to be a mixed race. I think a lot of mix race girls out there are insecure about their color and they should be proud and happy that they are both.

More To Love ...

'Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli immersed themselves in opera as they were designing this collection. Images of Maria Callas, playing the vengeful Medea in Pier Paolo Pasolini’s 1969 film all stark robes and stately golden jewelry stuck in their minds. Further delvings into the costumes and drawings at the opera house in Rome, and then more research into traditional peasant needlework and “humble” fabrics became part of the thinking.'
