The Dots Infinity collection created by the Japanese
artist Yayoi Kusama together with Marc Jacobs, creative director of the luxury brand,
is set to show at the Printemps Haussmann department store from August 23 until October 21,
2012.

After being supporting Japanese artistYayoi Kusama's first retrospective, LouisVuitton pays homage to the artist once again with the Dots Infinity collection. The ready-to-wear and accessories line inspired by Yayoi Kusama's most iconic works, was envisioned by the creative director of the French luxury brand, Marc Jacobs and the artist herself. For the occasion, thePrintempsHaussmann department store in Paris will honor the collaboration with an exclusive pop-up store on Level -1. Previewing the Dots Infinity collection, this temporary boutique will be decked in red and black polka dots, celebrating Yayoi Kusama's famous works, in particular her biomorphic sculptures.

Yayoi Kusama is renowned throughout the world for her
repetitive, rhythmic, and even hypnotic work with polka dot patterns.
Throughout the years, she has assiduously covered paintings, drawings,
sculptures, films and performances, creating gigantic installations
where, in an attempt to share her psychological traumas and fears, she
immerses the viewer in her obsessive vision
of endless dots and nets or infinitely mirrored space. This year
however, Kusama’s polka dots will also be covering some of the most
fashionable items in the world: following a trip to Tokyo where he met
the artist,Marc Jacobs decided to celebrate Kusama’s unique style in an extensive collection named “Infinity Dots collection” for the Louis Vuitton label.

From up Mid July 2012, Louis Vuitton stores around the world will be in 'Dot Fever': When the “kusamesque” figure comes to
life, the patterns ripple and lead the eye into a stroboscopic game. No
middle, no beginning and no end: this hallucinatory proliferation will
also be relayed in the Louis Vuitton windows worldwide decorated with
emblematic motifs: biomorphic shaped “nerves” sculptures for windows
named “BEGINNING OF THE UNIVERSE”; flowers entitled “ETERNAL BLOOMING
FLOWERS IN MY MIND” and especially red polka dots on white background
among which Kusama figures named “SELF-OBLITERATION” can be spotted.
For the artist, who sees her life as “a
dot lost among millions of other dots”, this collaboration will allow
her to spread her polka dots infinitely across the world and convey her
message: “Love Forever”. “It enables her to increase her audience and

Yayoi Kusama: The Princess of the Polka Dot
After successful collaborations with dynamic artists, such as Stephen Sprouse, Takashi Murakami, or Richard Price and the launch of
the Young Arts Project in London, Louis Vuitton renews its commitment to
the arts by supporting Yayoi Kusama at Tate Modern (9 February - 5 June
2012).
The exhibition has been organised by Tate Modern in
London in association with the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia
in Madrid, the Centre Pompidou in Paris and The Whitney Museum of
American Art in New York. Yayoi Kusama's pioneering work spans over six
decades and this exhibition will highlight the artists' moments of most
intense innovation. this year Louis Vuitton wants to honour the Japanese artist Yayoi
Kusama, with the 'Infinity Dots collection', and the Yayoi Kusama Retrospective starting July 11, 2012 at the New York Whitney Museum.
Kusama and Louis Vuitton will also
collaborate for the first time on several artworks, which will be
showcased in the Louis Vuitton New Bond Street Maison’s dedicated
exhibition space.

About Yayoi Kusama - Well known for her use of dense patterns of polka dots and nets, as well as her intense, large -scale environments, Yayoi Kusama's art encompasses an astonishing variety of media, including painting, drawing, sculpture, film, performance, and immersive installation. Born in Matsumoto, Japan in 1929, Kusama came to the U.S. in 1957 and quickly found herself at the epicenter of the 1960s avant-garde art world in New York. After achieving fame and notoriety with groundbreaking exhibitions, art happenings, and events, she returned to her native country in 1973 and is now Japan's most prominent contemporary artist. This retrospective features works across many mediums from the full chronology of Kusama's career.
