'Splendor' by DIOR MakeUp Christmas Collection

DIOR Holidays Made for Stars

For this winter and the accompanying festive season Peter Philips, the Creative and Image Director of Dior Makeup, has designed Splendor, a limited-edition makeup collection inspired by the sequins embellishing the House’s haute couture creations, with lips and eyes competing to out-shine each other, allowing the wearer to create a sparkling and intense festive look.

Season's inspirations! The Christmas look "Splendor" Collection is a journey into beauty, glamour and DIOR Savoir-Faire.

For the Splendor look, Philips has conceived a sophisticated beauty aesthetic in the manner of an haute couture garment, in which both lips and eyes come to sparkling life. Lips and cheekbones are swept with a colored and matte fine velvety veil by the new Diorific Matte Fluid. With its jewel-like packaging, it comes in four essential shades – the soft pink Marvel, the bright fuchsia Treasure, the bois de rose Pleasure, and an incandescent red, Luxury. As the marker of a colorful and flamboyant femininity, Diorific Lipstick has been reinvented for the season in five rich hues with a matte finish, including a collector shade, Golden, which can be worn alone or layered with another to create a magnetic finish.

Ultimate Glamour with Ondria Hardin, a vision of sophisticate feminity liberated by a stunning palette of shades and effects. A bold, radiant and ultra-pigmented makeup that mix matte and satiny hues for a free and audacious beauty.

Eyes are given a sculptured look using shades from the 5 Couleurs palette, coming in precious metal tones with Smoky Sequins – white, silver and anthracite around a bronze gold – or Precious Embroidery – a grouping of pink, mauve and dark purple around a rose gold. The complexion echoes this festive and sparkling spirit through the very fine texture of Diorific Splendor, which enhances facial bone structure, or a touch of Diorblush Splendor, whose apricot nuance suits all skin tones and lights up the skin with pearlescent shimmer.

To develop these pallets and compacts, Peter Philips, inspired by the virtuosity of the House’s expertise in haute couture, turned to the Vermont atelier, which regularly collaborates with Dior on embroidery for dresses and suits. The Creative and Image Director of Dior Makeup commissioned it to produce an exclusive embroidery for Splendor, with the Dior name traced out in gold sequins. The motif was then used when compressing the powder. This balance between couture and beauty can be found throughout the collection, as the colors borrow their richness from luxurious fabrics, extending to the Diorific Vernis that coats nails in five colors with warm or icy sequinned effects that allude to lamé evening wear.

When Couture meets makeup! Focus on the new Diorific Splendor powder and its DIOR logo embroidered with a "thread" of gold sequin adornments. Add a touch of gold on your cheeks, facial contours and décolleté for a bold and glovy effect.

Christian Dior & The French Riviera

For Christian Dior, the Riviera embraced a unique art de vivre, an ideally hedonistic way of life. Escape to the sensual South that was such an inspiration to Christian Dior.

"Paradise is here". - Christian Dior

Callian, Montauroux, Le Lavandou, Saint-Tropez and Saint-Raphaël… Christian Dior had always been inspired by the sunny charms of the French Riviera. It was like a faithful mirror, a sister land that reflected and nourished his sunny soul.

Christian Dior Provençal dream came true with the purchase of the Château de La Colle Noire in the Grasse hinterland.

"I think of this home now as my real home. The home where perhaps I will become again simply Christian. Where I feel myself to be as much a Couturier as a Perfumer." - Christian Dior

Christian Dior, who loved flowers, chose to acquire his property in 1951. Château de La Colle Noire, in Montauroux near Grasse in the South of France was a splendid residence overlooking the greenery-covered slopes in the heart of the Grasse countryside. The House of Dior has decided to restore this property today to foster its ties with its Provençal heritage. Christian Dior's acquisition of Château de La Colle Noire was the culmination of his deep fondness for the Provençal south and the realisation of his dream to be a perfumer: it was there that Christian Dior dreamed of using Dior flowers for his fragrances.

Dior Les Parfums - Relive the re-opening of Christian Dior's house in Grasse (South of France) last May, Le Château de la Colle Noire, with Charlize Theron among other very special guests.

This property was his peaceful haven, his "true home": he decorated each room, designed the garden and oversaw the refurbishment. It was there, surrounded by a chorus of crickets and white trails of jasmine, that he took off his couturier's hat and began developing his passion for exceptional flowers.

Beneath the Provencal sun, the garden that Christian Dior designed was reminiscent of his childhood in Normandy.

"I could take my existence full circle and return, in a different climate, to the enclosed garden that protected my childhood" - Christian Dior

Château de La Colle Noire was above all a "house-garden", where he allowed all his passion for flowers to be freely expressed. From the day he acquired the property and its fertile grounds, Christian Dior never stopped planting lush and fragrant plots of May roses and Grasse jasmine, as well as entire fields of olive and fruit trees. From his Paris base, he enquired about blossoms, took part in harvesting, making olive oil and visited often to oversee the development of his estate. Christian Dior made his property the symbol of the French art de vivre, associated as much with simplicity as with conviviality, and invited his friends to share in his perfect happiness.

Determined to revive Château de La Colle Noire, which it acquired in 2013, the House of Dior brought its history back to life and traced its roots, which are firmly anchored in the South of France. Patiently and lovingly restored, La Colle Noire is exactly as he wanted. Refined and welcoming, full of life and beauty. From the grounds to the reflecting pool, Château de La Colle Noire has been reborn beneath the Provençal sun. A thousand May roses, vineyards, olive trees, almond trees, - that Christian Dior loved so much - have all been replanted in the gardens of the Château.  His favourite flowers are there: lily-of-the-valley and African lily, tulips and violets, and above all Grasse roses, which reign supreme in Dior fragrances.

Partnerships have been forged with producers in the area, making Christian Dior's visionary dream come true: Dior flowers for Dior fragrances.

The Provençal, fragrant, exhilarating character of this garden, that Christian Dior wanted so much, has now been restored. It had all the ingredients to fulfill his happiness. A generous sun and the lush, fragrant nature he painstakingly planted : Rose de mai, Jasmine Grandiflorum, olive trees, almond trees, and countless others.

Fresh and pure is the look composed by Peter Philips for spring. This season, Philips sought to turn the focus on “glow”, the Dior-specific art of revealing natural beauty through a radiant complexion. Textures are light and delicately iridescent, creating a makeup that's fresh, natural and incandescent. To define the look, Peter Philips developed spring nuances, recalling the floral language dear to Christian Dior, that act as a showcase for the House’s color expertise. Both vibrant and light, shades of pink, peony red, soft green and pastel yellow allude to a garden bursting into bloom under a May sky.

'DIOR Spring 2016 RTW Ad-Campaign'

Raf Simons’ final ready-to-wear collection for Dior - Patrick Demarchelier shot a cast of young models in a series of group portraits that Dior described as “an homage to femininity, glamor and modernity.” Models Sofia Mechetner, Roos Abels, Staz Lindes, Maartje Verhoef, Grace Hartzel and Binx Walton had their windblown hair done by Duffy and low-key makeup applied by Peter Philips.

'The New Lady Dior Campaign'

For this new Lady Dior advertising campaign, photographer duo Mert & Marcus, renowned for their collaborations with Vanity Fair and Vogue Paris, capture Marion Cotillard in the intimate atmosphere of a bedroom, for a series of photos, as well as a behind the scenes video that you can discover later today. House muse since 2008, the Oscar-winning actress, sublime in a black dress with geometric décolleté from the cruise 2016 collection presented last May at Palais de Bulles, lounges in bed while surrounded by floral blooms and satin sheets. The 40-year-old French star poses in a body-hugging black dress alongside the Lady Dior bag decorated with a silver emblem. Finishing the look, Marion wears a smokey eyeshadow look and retro-inspired curls, unveils the new models of Lady Dior in turn. The emblematic House accessory comes in crimson red as well as a new-era metallic cannage.
